Itinerary
Day 1 Ashgabat: The Pearl in a Desert
Arrive in Turkmenistan’s dazzling capital, where modern design meets centuries of heritage. Visit the Monument of Neutrality and he National Museum before exploring the Parthian Fortresses of Nisa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. End the day wandering through Gulistan Bazaar, a lively maze of colors and crafts that captures the city’s everyday rhythm. Overnight in Ashgabat.
Day 2 The Desert Flames of Darvaza
After breakfast, visit the grand Gypjak Mosque before heading into the vast Karakum Desert. Stop at Yerbent village to experience the warmth of Turkmen hospitality and nomadic life. By dusk, arrive at the legendary Darvaza Gas Crater, the glowing “Door to Hell.” Watch the flames dance beneath a starlit sky ad spend the night in a traditional yurt camp surrounded by desert silence.
Day 3 Ancient Echoes of Merv
Depart for Mary and discover the ruins of Ancient Merv, once one of the Silk Road’s most powerful cities. Explore the Mausoleum of Sultan Sanjar, the Great Kyz Kala fortress, and the crumbling walls that whisper stories of empires long gone. Later, board the overnight train to Kerki, passing through quiet desert landscapes.
Day 4 Koytendag: The Prehistoric Frontier
Arrive in Kerki and travel to the dramatic landscapes of the Koytendag Nature Reserve. Explore limestone canyons and the famous Dinosaur Plateau, where ancient footprints are preserved in stone Visit hidden caves and enjoy the raw beauty of one of Turkmenistan’s most untouched regions. Overnight in Koytendag.
Day 5 Farewell to Turkmenistan
Transfer to Kerki Airport for a domestic flight to Ashgabat. Connect with your international departure and take with you memories of deserts, ruins and the timeless land that bridges past and present.
