Lebap Region, stretching along the Amu Darya River in eastern Turkmenistan, offers a fascinating combination of ancient Silk Road heritage, diverse landscapes and traditional Turkmen culture. From the fertile river valleys and vast Karakum Desert to historic settlements and archaeological sites, the region reveals a distinctive side of the country far from the capital.
The region is home to remarkable places such as the ancient city of Amul, the Koytendag Mountains and the famous Dinosaur Plateau, where prehistoric footprints can be found among dramatic mountain landscapes. Koytendag is particularly notable for its spectacular gorges, caves, springs and rugged mountain scenery. The area includes the country's highest peak, Ayrybaba, rising to more than 3,100 metres, as well as unique geological formations and diverse wildlife.

Nature lovers can discover places such as the Daraydere and Umbardere gorges, the Karlyuk cave system and the Gaynarbaba spring, while the mountains provide a habitat for rare species and distinctive flora. The Dinosaur Plateau is especially remarkable, preserving thousands of dinosaur footprints within the limestone landscape and offering a fascinating glimpse into life millions of years ago.

Lebap also provides opportunities to experience local traditions, rural life and the natural beauty of eastern Turkmenistan. With its combination of ancient settlements, Silk Road heritage, dramatic mountains and remarkable geological landscapes, the region offers an authentic journey through one of the country's most diverse and less-explored destinations.
